And of course I went through that tunnel. Because of course I did. :)

Week Three
Well this has been a busy week; five club meetings, two biology symposium seminars, and classes with labs. I got my first two essays assigned and will have a biology exam next Friday. This weekend I go to the coast!
I have found some beautiful studying places in the meantime:

I also managed to go to a soccer game with one of my friends (my first college sporting event). We won!
Fun Things
My forays into Portland have included two trips to a garden center (my friend was on a hunt for a cute bonsai- mission complete), another trip to the Saturday market, more trips to the tea shop (I want to see if I can taste all the flavors in the next four years (I do not believe it is possible, but it's fun to try); five flavors down, ...more than a hundred to go :P), a trip to a sushi shop, and some fun trimet navigation. Getting the hang of the city bit by bit (and taking full advantage of my minor-status to get half-off bus tickets!).
I got my futon! I love it!
Last weekend I baked nutella-swirled banana bread. Everyone was popping their head into our kitchen asking what made the hallway smell so good. It was decidedly delicious.

I'm a new student at college, going on New Student Trips and participating in New Student Orientation (NST and NSO, respectively).
Most exciting things that have happened so far:
- I hiked 12 miles up and down a mountain
- I ate a large quantity of wild huckleberries
- I slept outside under the greatly-visible stars
- I semi-set up my dorm
- still waiting on that futon
- I watched a fire dancing show
- I explored Portland and:
- Ate at food carts
- an absolutely fantastic blackened salmon with chipotle mayo pie (shout-out to Whiffies)
- a disappointing "veggie mezze plate" that took twelve minutes (probably don't want a shout-out, although their falafel was pretty good)
- Went to the Saturday Market
- Didn't get lost
- I BOUGHT PLANTS
- a peace-lily named Josephina, a tillandsia named Tilly Jr. Jr., and a currently unnamed succulent
- I BOUGHT NUTELLA
- I found a cool tea store that I plan to frequent (cool tea store)
Tomorrow I start classes!
Until next week,
Cecilia
